Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston

The evening staff, especially Mimi and the other young woman, were so kind, friendly, and helpful. My room was cozy, and the hallway stayed quiet. The location worked out perfectly too, with the metro and restaurants close enough to walk to.

The rooms need a proper renovation. They feel stuck in the early 2000s, especially the bathrooms and showers, and you can hear too much from neighboring rooms. The old magnetic swipe keys are a nuisance too, since they can stop working if kept near a phone. Housekeeping could do more with the details. The towels were clean but worn, and some had holes. The bins had no liners. Those small things would help make dated rooms feel more comfortable. On the plus side, staff were friendly and helpful, IHG members get good amenities, and the nightly rates are often fairly affordable for the area.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and being just off the interstate made the location convenient. The beds were okay, though the rooms were very basic and the facility clearly needs a major refresh. There was no breakfast to be had, as a military group had taken it over. Coffee at the bar was $4.

The staff were the best part of my stay. Every interaction was positive, and they deserve recognition for that. The property itself felt worn out and outdated, from the room to the common areas, and it seemed poorly maintained. Management needs to put real investment into upkeep and renovation. Until that happens, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
