Comfort Inn Payson

Payson is a great town, and the breakfast was good, but the stay didn't make for much of a mini vacation. We were there for two nights and didn't get a room refresh after the first one, no trash pickup, bed service, or towels. I had to go to the pool for a couple extra towels. The pool itself was cold, and noise on our floor after 11 meant two nights of limited sleep.

We had a reservation, but the elevator was broken when we arrived. We were in Payson for the 250th Marine Corps Ball, and my husband is a disabled Veteran, so taking the stairs wasn't possible. Tony at the Comfort Inn front desk was very rude. When we got upset, he told us to leave and said he'd call the police. We shouldn't have been expected to just accept a broken elevator. They should have called customers to let them know. Staff at the Best Western across the street told us broken elevators are a recurring problem here. Don't stay here.

The sheets were clean and the beds were made nicely, and the front desk staff was very kind when explaining the difference between the wedding booking price and the billing. I'll have to wait and see what shows up on my credit card. Still, at $159, it wasn't worth it. It's just okay if you need somewhere to sleep. Bring slippers. The room had old spots on the comforter, which I flipped downward, and the entry floor was sticky and not cleaned. There were quarter-sized sauce spots, and I cleaned up two more like them. Behind the mattress, the headboard area had an applesauce squeeze top, presumably from kids. There was also dirt in the corners and around the toilet trash can, along with food splatter on the ceiling and floor. It seemed like the manager doesn't inspect cleaned rooms. Tagging the missed areas wouldn't take long, and cleaners who catch the big things deserve a bonus. Owner, you need to check in and care more. I blame previous customers for treating rooms carelessly, but cleaning missed a lot.

Juanita at the desk had kept my request in mind, even though the phone reservation hadn't gone through because of a bad connection and she couldn't book without card details. She kept a room available, got us checked in quickly, and called me by name the whole time. The next morning she greeted me with “Good morning, Eric.” That was impressive, especially since the parking lot was almost full. We'd driven straight to the hotel after the failed call. The room was okay, with a fridge, coffee and tea maker, and microwave. The bathroom was fine but could use updating in a year or two. Free parking is right in front. Breakfast was basic, without a big selection, but okay. The value was reasonable, and we'd choose the Comfort Inn again for an overnight in Payson.
