Maria at the front desk looked after my father and me so well throughout the stay. Because the heater in our booked two-bedroom suite was broken, the hotel contacted us before arrival and moved us into two one-bedroom studio suites at no extra charge. They also offered several amenities to make up for the change. When we arrived, Maria gave us extra miles, complimentary parking, and complimentary water, and she was there to help with anything we needed. I’ve stayed at many Marriott hotels, but I don’t think I’ve had an experience this good with the staff. We had a great stay, and I absolutely recommend this hotel.

I’m in Arlington, VA for work around 60 days a year and have tried all the Marriott options. This one is quiet, set back in a neighborhood, but still close to the Metro. The rooms are clean and spacious, and there’s plenty of underground hotel parking and a lot of restaurants within walking distance. It isn’t the Ritz Carlton, but it works well for business travel. The fitness center could be better. That won’t put active travelers off, since there are several nearby gyms offering day passes.

When I checked out, there wasn’t a manager on site, so I emailed one about how unhappy I was. I never got a reply, which fits with the poor service overall. I stay at Marriott properties often and usually have a positive experience, but not here. My room smelled bad, probably from food rotting in the sink drain because the garbage disposal didn’t work. The front desk staff were rude, too. Apart from check-in and check-out, nobody said hello or even looked up. I only wanted coffee on my first morning, but at 9:02 the breakfast area was already closed. The front desk woman said there was nothing she could do and I’d have to go out for coffee. The exercise room is very small. There were few amenities and plenty of problems.

When I’m in DC for work, this is easily my favorite place to stay. It’s in a quiet residential area, so I can walk my dog and get some fresh air, but restaurants, a grocery store, and a gym are all close by. The staff are what keep me coming back. They’re friendly and welcoming, and they seem to care that you’re there. That makes a difference when you’re traveling for work. It’s comfortable and convenient, and the welcome is consistent.
