Residence Inn by Marriott Arlington

The kids liked the breakfast, and the staff were friendly and tried to make things right after the room mix-up. We had called to confirm, but airport issues led staff to give our room away. After an 11-hour drive with several kids, that was a real letdown. The rooms were dated. A stove in one room was broken and held together with duct tape, carpet was peeling, and the pull-out bed didn't seem to have been checked or cleaned in a while. Outside, the trash by building B was overflowing when we arrived at midnight and still was when we left at 9 the next morning. Litter was spread around on the ground, including on a handicap ramp, and there was trash through the grassy areas where I walked the dogs. This location missed the mark for the Marriott brand. Unless we're desperate, I don't plan to stay again.

The front desk person was magnificent, but that's where it ended. Someone's purse had been gone through in the parking lot, and the showers were ice cold at 7am. The chair was torn up on the back, the tiles looked like they were done by a friend of a friend instead of a professional, and the marked-up fridge sounded like a freight train. This wasn't Marriott quality. They asked everyone if they wanted the first floor, and I don't want to know what the upper floors are like. I only took a few photos, including the loose wall joints, but there's plenty more to see if you want to find out yourself.

I was in town for an event. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was okay and free, and the front desk accommodated my needs. The room and furniture are dated. If you have pets, this is the place for you. If you don't have kids or pets with you, there are better hotel options.

The room was cozy, and the facilities were clean. Staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good with generous portions. The juice machine wasn't working, so Valeria, the very kind woman in the dining area, came over and offered me some juice.
