The East Island Reserve Hotel

It was a lovely place, and the suite was beautiful and clean. The upstairs had a bedroom and full bathroom; downstairs there was a kitchen, living area with a fireplace, and another half bath. It felt like a nice one-bedroom apartment, and there was a full washer and dryer. The small fridge seemed odd alongside the cooktop, oven, microwave, and dishwasher, but it worked fine.

The only real problem came after overnight rain. Water flooded the side stairs and walkway to our entrance, so we had to jump carefully onto very soggy grass. The drainage could be better. Otherwise, we had a lovely time and would return. Next time, we might rent a cottage to try one out. The property was clean and well kept, and our cute loft had a Newport feel with white, grey, and navy colors and sailboat pictures. It was just right for our trip.

We came for a wedding and were disappointed by how little follow-through there was from the staff. We needed to change and catch the wedding bus leaving at 4:30, so I asked if we could check in before 4 p.m. They first told us to call closer to the date, then told us to call on check-in day. I did, and they said they'd call back, but nobody did and we couldn't check in early. Maybe the room was still being cleaned, but then why were someone else's used coffee cups left on the deck?

The pool is amazing, it's saltwater, and they have a spa where I'm hoping to get a massage. We've been here twice in five years, and I love that it's quieter than Newport but still close enough. The rooms aren't big, but ours was clean and modern, with a fantastic bed, nice decor, a great shower, and thoughtful amenities. The makeup wipes were so good I ordered some. The kitchenette has everything you need, and they put the extra pillows I requested in the bedroom, thank you! The rooms are fairly quiet, though one neighbor came in at 11 and talked and laughed loudly until around 12:30. My only other complaint is that the shades don't block enough light, so bring an eye mask. The wording in the emails and on the website also feels negative, almost rude. They could say what they need to in a lighter, kinder way.
