We came to Artesia because Roswell was sold out during the Air Races, and were glad to find a room at the Heritage Inn. It’s a small, charming old world place in a great part of town, and the real hardwood floors add to the character. We had the deluxe queen room, which was spacious, with comfortable beds, and the hotel was immaculately clean and beautifully restored. The rate was reasonable, too. Main Street is a great location, though the traffic noise comes with it. There’s no elevator, and all ten rooms are upstairs. There wasn’t breakfast during our visit, and the ice machine wasn’t working. We also didn’t see any employees while we were there. Check-in happened over the phone, and they gave us a code to enter. We had low expectations because there weren’t many options, but we liked the place.

The veranda is gorgeous, with lots of space to relax or have a cookout, and grills are provided. It would work really well for a wedding party or another group gathering. Inside, the decor is beautiful and gives the place an almost time-travel feel. The rooms are well equipped, the beds are very comfortable, and there’s a wide range of breakfast options, even without staff on hand. A unique and interesting place.

The room was a little smaller than a standard hotel room, but it had been remodeled and was very clean. The shower was the best I’ve ever used, even compared with my one at home. Staff were super helpful and friendly, and I had a great stay. I spent months on the road at different hotels before staying here about a year ago, and this place really stood out. I’d definitely come back if I’m in the area.

We stayed one night before visiting Carlsbad Caverns and really liked the place. It’s a nicely renovated downtown hotel, with clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was good, and the washer and dryer were free to use in the evenings from 3 to 9. I’d stay again.

The room was comfortable and VERY quiet. We couldn’t hear anything outside, even over the 4th of July weekend. The faucet broke and the fire alarm went off for no reason, but the staff were accommodating and moved us when they realized they couldn’t repair the sink right away. Definitely recommend.
