Candlewood Suites Asheville Downtown by IHG

It's clean, and the service is on top of things, but this is just an average hotel. They don't offer breakfast, and the rooms are smaller than most we've stayed in. The “suite” barely feels like one. It's okay if you want a decent place to sleep and aren't particular, but there's nothing special about it.

The beds felt stiff, so I didn't get the comfortable night's sleep I was hoping for. They weren't unbearable, just not great. The staff were polite when we needed them, though nothing extraordinary. I found the stay pretty average. One major inconvenience was that food deliveries like DoorDash couldn't be brought to our room, so after a long travel day I had to go downstairs to meet the driver. That got tiresome.

Check-in was easy with our reservation, and there was plenty of parking all around. There are lots of food places within a five to ten minute walk, maybe closer, and a McDonald's right across the way. They also have a pool and gym, plus complimentary laundry machines. A great place to stay.

The whole place was very clean, and our room was cozy with comfortable beds. The tub looked like the white finish was chipping, but it was clean. The rooftop bar wasn't anything special, though the woman working there was super nice. My mom loved taking in the trees and scenery with her beer. The other staff weren't especially friendly, but they weren't rude either. The area looked run down, with lots of closed or abandoned places and some people who seemed a little sketchy walking around. We never had any problems, and that kind of thing doesn't bother us much, but I figured I'd mention it since some people might not like it.
