Baymont by Wyndham Delavan Near Lake Geneva

We didn't feel comfortable staying the night and left after returning from the wedding. When we went to the front desk about the room, nobody was there, only a note saying the attendant had “stepped away.” When someone finally came back, Rene was rude and combative. Instead of apologizing, he called us “sketchy” for not reporting the problems sooner. He eventually gave us the manager's number. We left a voicemail that night, and two days later still hadn't heard back. We'd been charged an early check-in fee, which I'd never encountered at another hotel. Then it was clear the room hadn't been properly cleaned after the last guest. The sheets seemed to be the only thing changed. There was food in the mini-fridge, body wash in the shower, wrappers on the floor, bugs flying around, and rips in the sheets. The place felt old, dirty, and run-down, and there was mold on the ceiling. For what we paid, this was completely unacceptable. Between the state of the room, the lack of anyone at the desk, and how we were treated, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had two different rooms. In one, the bathroom door wouldn't open all the way. The other had a leaking toilet and several flies. When someone was at the front desk, they weren't much help.

The bed had no mattress at all, just what looked like packing foam. There was also a huge hairball in the shower and mold on the ceiling. Our rooms still weren't ready at 7:30 at night, even though we'd booked them three days ahead, and the hotel was nearly empty. The ice machine was broken, breakfast was uncovered, and the waffles tasted sour, maybe from old mix. Absolutely do not stay here.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and downtown Delavan is a perfect location. But the building was in awful shape. The rooms and lobby were really rough, there was black mold, and dogs were barking in rooms. Honestly, the place was gross.
