The room worked perfectly for what I needed, and I slept well. It was clean, with a good-sized bathroom, a large closet, and a great shower. The refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker all worked as needed. I was surprised by how spacious and well furnished it was, with a table and two chairs, dressers, and a big wall-mounted TV. I’d recommend this motel to anyone looking for an economical stay with some of the benefits of a pricier chain hotel. I arrived around 8 pm on March 17 after driving from Tucson. The attendant was polite, showed me where to park, and brought me to the room with the extra pillows I’d asked for. Nearby construction made the entrance a little confusing when I arrived. Kentucky Fried Chicken and Mc Donalds were both about a block away, so I had dinner at one and breakfast on the road from the other. The price was surprisingly low.
It was really clean inside, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The beds were hard, the pillows small, and the TVs were old boxed models with only certain channels, so you’re going to get bored. Checking in before 4 pm costs an extra $30.
The best part for me was the parking. I could look out the window at my car every hour or so because I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it in the area. My family and I also felt unsafe in the neighborhood, especially near the highway exit, which seemed sketchy. We drove down to SoCal on New Year’s Eve for the Rowsebowl parade, and this was one of the last places with rooms available so we could stop and rest. The man at the counter wasn’t welcoming. The rate seemed fair for two queen beds meant for four, but I was charged extra because I’d left the booking at the default two adults instead of saying there were four of us. The beds felt icky, the carpets were stained, and the hangers and closet bar were lying on the floor. I’d stay away if you’re a decent person expecting hospitality.
The bed was comfortable, and for getting some rest it was decent enough. Parking was limited, and there was a soda machine. I probably wouldn’t go back, though I’d rather stay at a Motel 6. From outside it looked really nice, but the room and bathroom were small. The TV was very old and made that annoying eehhh sound. A metal screen screwed onto the bathroom window made me feel like I was in prison. The toilet paper was in a locked holder like one at a public park, and the bathroom doorknob was reversed, with the lock on the outside. There was a small closet and a beat-up old drawer being used as a TV stand. It did have an old mini fridge.
The only perk is that you get $10 back if you return the room keys. Everything else looked worn out, smelled awful, and felt like it needed a complete makeover. The beds were hard, too. My first thought when I walked in was that the place looked straight out of a movie crime scene.
