Days Inn by Wyndham Asheville/Mall

Breakfast was the highlight. The sign promises the "best free hot breakfast," and I have to agree: there was fruit, waffles, pancakes, eggs, meats, grits, and more. The place is pet friendly too, so I'll definitely come back. It's an older property and looks rough from outside, but the lobby has been completely remodeled and the room was good. The shower could've been bigger and the age shows in the fixtures, but the bed was clean and comfortable. There was a microwave and fridge, which let me bring back leftovers.

The breakfast area looked nice, though we didn't eat there. It seems like the dining space has been upgraded, but the rooms haven't. Ours was old and dirty, with at least four roaches during our stay. Several outlets didn't work, the toilet was dirty and wouldn't flush properly, and the internet was down. At 9:30am the maid opened our door without knocking. Luckily, we were dressed. My easygoing husband said we should have left for another hotel, but we'd arrived late and were exhausted.

The treadmill was really nice and breakfast was wonderful, but we barely slept. Both the room and bedding smelled awful, and our supposed non-smoking room had clearly been smoked in many times. The bathroom wasn't clean either. Late at night, a man outside in the courtyard was yelling obscenities while we were trying to get the kids to sleep. We weren't pleased with the stay.

The staff were super sweet, and breakfast was really nice. The stay wasn't as bad as we'd expected. There was a ghost in the room, though. It kept shuffling things around by the bathroom to get our attention and making strange noises. It would hide our stuff, then bring it back when we asked. Still, it was a great experience overall.
