The lively, welcoming lobby and thoughtful room decor made the stay memorable. I especially liked the headboard and printed mirror accents, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Jessica at check-in was warm, welcoming, and efficient. Later, the attendant who brought my pillows was kind and accommodating. I’d requested those pillows through the chat feature the day before, and the request was noted, but they weren’t in my room despite my requested 11:30 AM check-in time. I didn’t actually arrive until after 8 PM, so it was a minor inconvenience, and they took care of it once I was there. A few things still need attention. The shower curtain had visible stains that looked like smeared blood, as if it had been washed but put back into use. The toilet kept running after a late-night flush, disturbing the quiet. Only two of the four elevators worked, so waits were longer at busy times. The TV could have been a bit bigger. Even with those issues, the service and atmosphere keep making the Renaissance memorable. Better housekeeping and maintenance would make this an easy five-star stay.

Parking at $25 a night seems unfair for a place that already costs this much. The valet was polite and helpful, even though we didn’t use his service. The lobby bartender would disappear for minutes at a time, and the shower was a real hazard. The tub floor has a little texture, but there’s no plastic or silicone mat. Don’t step in right after turning on the shower. I fell, and it wasn’t pleasant.

The rooms are good, and getting to downtown on foot is easy with so many restaurants nearby. What really makes this hotel stand out, though, is how attentive the staff are. I’ve stayed several times over the past two months, and every request has been handled with a smile and excellent service. Jacob and Gabriella at the front desk are fantastic.

The breakfast worked well for both the adults and the kids, with plenty to choose from. The front desk staff were especially kind during our two nights there. One gentleman gave our young children little toys and paper to fold into airplanes. The only hitch was slow internet, which kept buffering while we watched Netflix. The rooms were great otherwise.

We spent the last days of the year here and celebrated New Year’s Eve at the hotel on my first trip to Asheville. The room had a lovely view, though it came at a premium, and the location made it easy to get to downtown, restaurants, and tourist spots. The front desk team were all helpful and greeted us warmly. I also loved the older woman at the bar, she makes amazing drinks. The room was missing some basics for its price category. Even though we booked a premium room with a view, there was no desk or chair, and no sofa by the window to sit and enjoy the scenery. The barn-style bathroom door also didn’t give full privacy. As an architect, I think better planning could have made it extend farther over the opening. Food could be available for more hours during the day, and it would be nice if the hotel put on a New Year’s Eve event for guests so they didn’t have to hunt around town for somewhere to celebrate. I’d like to return, but the $25-$30 nightly parking charge adds up over a stay of several days. It’s a nice hotel with a great location and staff, and a few changes could make it better.
