Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Bridgeport - Clarksburg

We had a non-smoking room, and it looked clean, but smoke and cigarette smells were everywhere. I asked to move because my wife is pregnant and we had kids with us, but they couldn’t accommodate us. The room lights also kept going out. I told the front desk, and they just said to flip the outlet switch, but the lights continued to cut out. The shower water wasn’t hot. By the time I showered after my wife and kids, there was no hot water left, and the bathtub was clogged. The kids were excited about the pool, but it was a murky green and I couldn’t see the bottom. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.

The place felt unsafe and neglected. The floors sagged throughout, so much that I felt like I could fall through, and the stairs were covered in food, trash, and debris when I arrived. My room’s door handle looked like something had been smeared across it, the bathtub was a safety hazard, the sheets smelled like feet, and the A/C had a wet-dog smell. There were sketchy people around at night. I don’t know how the place hasn’t been condemned because of those floors. I didn’t try the breakfast, but I could smell it cooking. That helped cover the musty odor, which was nice.

I’m not from around here, but my semi broke down nearby and this place was close. For one night, the price was good. The room was clean and cozy, with clean bedding, a decent-sized shower, and a clean bathroom. There’s good Wi-Fi, daily breakfast, and a pool. The woman at the front desk was welcoming and friendly. 10 out of 10, I’d recommend it.

Parking was easy, but the stay fell short of what we expected, especially for the price. We were in town for my daughter’s WV Novice State Tournament and booked at the last minute. I chose this hotel because I’m a member of its program and the online reviews seemed decent. The place was organized, though it didn’t look very clean or updated. At check-in, the staff member was hard to understand. I had to ask several times how to get to our room before another employee helped. We’d requested two queen beds, but these didn’t seem queen-sized. There were only three pillows per bed and no extra blankets, despite our request. The beds were uncomfortable and creaked when anyone moved, so we kept waking each other up and none of us slept well. Our door wouldn’t lock properly unless we lifted it to engage the deadbolt, which didn’t feel secure. The pool area was poorly lit in the evening and looked nothing like the photo. There were no towels there, so we had to go back to the desk to ask for them. We also weren’t offered internet access, and there’s no elevator, something guests who need elevator access should know. Clearer communication at check-in would help. The beds need updating, and the advertising should give guests a more accurate idea of what to expect.
