The art is what first caught my eye at The Radical. The lobby has murals and paintings everywhere, and I loved how artistic it all felt. My room had the same vibe, with an industrial finish and a lovely view of the French Broad River. The bathroom was luxurious, especially the proper walk-in shower instead of an uncomfortable tub. I didn’t make it to Golden Hour, the Michelin-recommended restaurant, but I did stop at the lobby bar, After/Glow. The burger was juicy and full of flavor, the drinks were excellent and reasonably priced, and the bartender cheerfully went along with my odd, eccentric drink requests. I wasn’t expecting the stay to be this good, but it went well beyond what I had in mind. Fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely return.
Philip really made our stay for me. I had a billing issue that was entirely my fault, and when I said it wasn’t a big deal if he couldn’t change it, he replied, “It’s important to me.” He fixed it anyway, and that kindness made my day. The front desk team also seemed laid-back and genuinely good-hearted. You can tell Philip cares about guests, and he’s the sort of professional, compassionate manager any hotel would be lucky to have. We were in a King suite with a separate bedroom. The bed was comfortable, the canopy drapes felt extra fancy, and I loved the huge walk-in shower. The living room, though, wasn’t very cozy, and the couches weren’t comfortable. A big cement post sat right in the middle and blocked the TV from the way the room was arranged. Our suite also didn’t have a pull-out couch, so keep in mind that not every suite has an extra bed. We came to Asheville for a quick overnight trip and thought the hotel was super cool, with quirky decor and a lobby that smells amazing. It was too cold for us to try the rooftop bar, but I’ve got that on my list for next time. Thanks to everyone at the Radical Asheville. You rock.
The atmosphere at After/Glow was cozy and unique. I had the grits and egg bowl, which was so filling I took half home, along with a Bloody Mary. My husband just had a few bites and coffee. We’ll definitely go back.
We had dinner at the golden hour and the food was delicious, hot, fresh, and made from scratch. The lobby bar had a fun, artsy, funky vibe, the cocktails were great, and the live music was a real treat. It’s close enough to walk to plenty of places in the River district. We enjoyed this awesome hotel two nights ago and will definitely be back.
The fresh pastries at the on-site restaurant became my favorite morning ritual. The flaky butter croissants, warm almond pastries, and seasonal fruit tarts smelled wonderful, and with a good espresso they were a great way to start the day. The hotel has a quirky, eclectic look, with thoughtful artwork and unexpected touches in every hallway and lounge. It made the whole place feel warm and memorable. Our room was spotless and comfortable, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the location made it easy to get where I needed to go. We had a fantastic experience from check-in through checkout. If you care about good service, a relaxing room, distinctive decor, and fresh-baked pastries, this place delivers. Highly recommend.
