Ashland Springs Hotel

When I had trouble charging my electric vehicle, the man at the front desk came out to help at 10:30pm. One charger doesn't work, which wasn't a big problem for me, though it could be if lots of EVs are parked there. I felt well looked after. My room on the 5th floor was modest, with a queen bed, but just right for one person. The mattress was soft and cushy, and everything was clean and well kept. It's a beautiful, stately historic hotel. Thank you Ashland Springs Hotel!

We liked the location, the building, and the dog policy, but the stay was a mess. The room was small, the bed wobbled whenever my partner moved, and the creaky floors carried noise from every neighbor. Someone upstairs walked laps at 6 am every morning, waking us several times. Housekeeping was loud in the hall, started vacuuming at 6 am, and knocked on our door at 7am on two mornings. On the last day they opened the door while I was in the bathroom and let my dog out. When I told the front desk, they offered to make up for it by waiving a pet fee I hadn't paid and that hadn't been mentioned in the booking or on the phone. Shady, poor service and room quality. I won't stay here again.

I don't often leave bad reviews, but this was really disappointing. I'd accidentally booked for the wrong date, the following day instead of that same day, and went to the front desk as soon as I noticed to see if they could fix it. I understand third-party bookings can come with limits, but they showed no interest in helping or even suggesting another option. They just said nothing could be done and there would be no change or refund. Hospitality should include some care and flexibility when an honest mistake happens. I didn't feel valued as a guest, and after this experience I'd think twice about staying here again.

You couldn't ask for a more convenient spot, right by Lithia Park and the Shakespeare festival event center. The historic hotel stands out as a tower in a very small, low-rise town, and the rooms are cozy. They were exceptionally welcoming to dogs. Our room was quite small, and the pedestal sink had only a narrow glass shelf for toiletries, but those were minor issues in an otherwise lovely stay.
