At $175 a night, I expected better. The hotel is in the middle of major construction, with work going on inside and construction materials taking up a significant number of parking spaces. I understand that upgrades take work and appreciate the effort to improve the rooms, but guests should be told about the construction before booking.

The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and our patio was clean and felt safe to relax on. This location worked well for our Ocala visit: we saw family nearby and drove about 1.5 hours from the hotel to Busch Gardens. At checkout, Annissa was very friendly, and Robert helped me sort out an error with the booking.

There were bugs in my bed in the morning. Seriously awful and unsanitary. My room also had no working A/C, and the front desk staff seemed not to care. I asked for a manager but none was available; I requested a call and still hadn't heard anything more than 24 hours later. I stay at Marriott brands often, and this is by far the worst property I've experienced, an embarrassment to the brand. There are plenty of hotels in Ocala, so I'd recommend choosing somewhere else.

I was in town for a funeral and didn't get the rest I needed. The TV didn't work, the A/C had a problem, and the refrigerator was warm when we arrived. There was a lot of rust around the tub's lower controls. For three mornings in a row, a blasting fire alarm woke me before 7:45 a.m. I'm not sure I'd ever return to this hotel.

The location was handy, with easy access to the highway and nearby restaurants, and check-in went smoothly. Staff were polite, the rooms were good, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Overall, the Marriott in Ocala was a decent place to stay, but it didn't stand out from the other Marriotts I've visited.
