Best Western Athens Inn

I’d stayed here several times before without any problems, which made this visit especially frustrating. I booked online, but when I arrived the woman at the desk with dark curly hair, who I assumed was Indian, said there were no rooms ready. She said housekeeping had only just started, though the maids were already there when I got in. She didn’t introduce herself. She told me more than once to return at noon, so I planned my day around that. I came back exactly at 12 and was then told to wait in my car another 30 minutes. I’d already been waiting for hours. If a room takes about 30 minutes to clean, I don’t understand why the wait went past four hours. I drove around the property and saw several rooms that looked cleaned and ready. I can’t know exactly what was available, but the explanations didn’t make sense to me. I got conflicting information and very little communication throughout. As a returning guest, I felt disregarded and disrespected. I would have gone elsewhere, but getting a refund after booking is difficult. I won’t stay here again or recommend it. I hope management fixes these service problems so future guests are treated with more respect.

We only stayed one night, so we didn’t use the pool. The room was clean and fine for our needs, though basic. Staff were very pleasant. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t very good. The touchless pancake maker didn’t work, the biscuits were tough, and the scrambled eggs were just edible.

The king bed was much too soft. Otherwise, the room was adequate: the water was hot with good pressure, and the towels were good quality even if they weren’t large. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast is free and basic.

Karen found us a corner room that was pet-friendly and accessible. It was quiet, and there was a nice spot out back to walk the dogs. The hotel is centrally located, close to the exit and several restaurants. I’d definitely stay again.
