Hyatt Place Athens/Downtown

I was really happy with my conference stay. The rooms were very clean, especially the bathroom, and every employee I met was kind and helpful. That came in handy when I somehow forgot how to use an elevator. Highly recommend!

The breakfast buffet was phenomenal, which almost made up for our supposedly haunted room. We were in room 525, where a whistling noise turned into something more like a howl when things got quiet. I could hear it from the hallway, too, though the other rooms didn’t seem to have the issue. I’d recommend the hotel, just not that room. One other annoyance: the front desk guy said parking was his gift to us for our anniversary, but we were still charged.

We had a big group for the wedding, but there was plenty of fresh food, and it never ran out. The homemade biscuits and food from the bar were excellent, too. Our room was gorgeous, with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa bed that worked well for four people. Booking through the app months ahead was easy, and I believe we had a wedding discount for the Faulk-Green wedding. Check-in was simple, and staff were friendly and helpful. When my key stopped working the next day, they promptly brought a computer to let me in. Someone was always at the desk when we needed help. The wedding was across the street, and the wedding suite was beautiful and spacious, with a lovely balcony. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar and its scenery, ordering non-alcoholic drinks. We’re saved people, but still had a nice time up there. Best hotel stay, 2500/5 for sure.

We stayed in early February, and the noise from doors opening and closing carried right into the room. It was disturbing, especially for the rate we paid. The doors shut so heavily that you can hear them clearly from another room, and management needs to address it. The elevators also seem to be an ongoing problem. One was out during my stay, while another was either being used by employees or wasn’t responding. They need to get them working.
