Super 8 by Wyndham Athens

We come here for swim meets at OU. It’s run by a wonderful family, and the rooms are spacious and clean. I especially like that they have rooms with three queen beds.

I spent most of my three-day vacation in the room after getting very sick during the visit, though it had nothing to do with the hotel. The rooms were very clean and the staff was nice enough. I can’t be sure, but I suspect the person above me may have been a drug user. For several nights he paced back and forth all night, and when I went out to my truck, I noticed him glaring out the window each time he passed.

I booked this place during a motorcycle trip to ride around the Hocking Hills area. It was the only hotel in the area under $200 a night with vacancies, which now makes sense. The rooms were okay, actually better than at any other Motel 8 I’ve stayed in, but the service was terrible. The staff were surly and wouldn’t communicate. The night clerk flat-out refused to answer my questions about the TV system. I’d strongly advise against staying unless the owners replace the staff and train and supervise them properly.

We stayed one night and it was nice overall. The front desk guy was nice, the bathroom was clean, and the Wi-Fi worked. There was no room service. I slept on the floor because one bed was smaller, and there was a strong pickle-like smell. The tub was a little dirty.
