Atlanta Marriott Marquis

The architecture gives the hotel a memorable feel, and our room was comfortable and clean, which made it easy to relax after long conference days. We were there with a group, and everyone we dealt with was attentive, friendly, and professional. The hotel restaurants were delicious, with top-notch service. I’ll definitely stay here again!

I’m dreading our return to the Marriott Marquis for the conference, especially because I’ll be responsible for 30 students from other families. They’ve all heard what happened last year, when we had almost no sleep and no rooms. In March 2025, I brought the students for an overnight school conference that the Hyatt Regency does a remarkable job hosting and coordinating. We were told check-in was at 4 PM, but our state director warned that it might run late because of the crowd, so I told everyone we’d wait until 6:30 PM and check in together. Our rooms still weren’t ready. We didn’t get the first keys until 10 PM, and then had only two rooms for all 30 people. Repeated calls to the desk got us nowhere. At 10:30 PM and again at midnight, I was told housekeeping was still preparing the rooms. These bookings had been made by February 4, our payment deadline. One student studying hospitality and event management for the conference called to complain that putting 15 people in a room violated fire code. Only then did the manager step in quickly and give us the remaining keys. The students got just four hours of sleep, from 2 AM to 6 AM, despite us paying the full room rate. That felt very unfair. We’ve been assigned the Marriott Marquis again, though I’d hoped for the adjoining Hyatt Regency.

The pool was closed when I visited, but I asked about a complimentary upgrade and got a premium room on the top floor. It had floor-to-ceiling windows and a fantastic downtown view, and the elevator ride up was quick with a good look at the hotel. I also liked the comfortable, clean room and the architecture, which made for some quick photos. Hunger Games was filmed here. I had a great stay.

The carpets are very dated, which was my one drawback. Otherwise, it’s a great venue for a large conference, with an impressive central courtyard and glass elevators that whisk you way up. We had a wonderful view from the 41st floor, and the bellhops, valet, and concierge were impressively quick.
