The quick trip to Publix and Walgreens was handy, about five minutes away. The apartment itself was comfortable and well kept, with a large bathroom and strong water pressure. Internet was excellent. The kitchen has a modern setup, plenty of counter space, a wide sink, disposal, full-size fridge with ice maker, and a working microwave. The firm bed was comfortable, and the place was clean, though initially it seemed a bit smaller than I expected. It was mostly quiet, but car horns and emergency vehicles could sometimes be heard from the bedroom. A few things could be better: the dish rack is flimsy and small, so water can end up on the counter. There’s a large walk-in closet, but little shelving and not much room in the nightstand drawers. The couch looks good but needs back pillows, though bedroom pillows worked, and the patio furniture is basic. The tub stopper was loose, and the balcony door lock didn’t always stay engaged. Check-in is firmly at 4:00 PM, when the access code begins working. The apartment number wasn’t in the check-in messages. We figured it out because the last three digits of the Wi-Fi name and password matched the unit number. Parking is first-come, first-served. There’s a small trash chute by the elevator, so don’t pack the bags too full.

The location worked well for us, and having a Publix nearby was convenient. Still, I’d choose a hotel close by next time, since the price was about the same. We stayed in a studio over the weekend, and the first thing we found was dirty bedding. We tracked down an employee with a linen cart, who brought clean sheets, but they were the wrong size. There’s no front desk or actual housekeeping, despite the website saying housekeeping is available. To ask for extra sheets or towels, you have to contact the booking site through its help or agent feature. We spent until around 1 a.m. trying to reach security or anyone who could get us clean sheets. The washer and dryer were there, but no detergent, so we went to Publix the next morning for what we needed. Finding the building and parking was also a bit difficult because the location isn’t clearly marked. And they charged a $200 deposit, even though the booking site said it would be $100. Not the worst stay, but there were a lot of hassles.

I can’t get an invoice from the Dorsen, despite emailing almost every day for weeks. My company’s booking agent has emailed and called too, with no response. That’s been really frustrating and unprofessional, and it makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes. The stay itself was pleasant and worked well as a base for my business trip. The kitchen was well equipped, and there was a washer and dryer. AVOID IF YOU NEED AN INVOICE!

We were in Atlanta to see David Byrne at the Fox Theater, which was an easy walk from this sweet, clean studio. It was great for our one-night stay and would also suit people staying several nights or weeks. There was a kitchen, a regular-size fridge, and a washer and dryer. It was too cold to sit out on the balcony, but the city view was nice.

The lobby has such a great atmosphere, definitely a photo op, and the rooms are really clean with new appliances. I also had my own balcony. It was very affordable, and I’m in love with the place. I’ll be back.
