Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta-Downtown

The room was laid out so well. There was a sofa, desk, and TV as soon as we came in, then a sink, fridge, and coffee station, with the bathroom across from them. A separate door closed off the sleeping area, which had its own TV. I loved that setup. They clean rooms every other day, which also meant I didn’t feel pushed out so housekeeping could come in.

The breakfast was decent, though more vegetarian choices would help travelers like me. The location is convenient for getting to many downtown Atlanta attractions, and the stay was comfortable. My main concern was that the room wasn’t cleaned daily, and toiletries should be refreshed each day for guests’ comfort. There’s room to improve on those points.

The staff were amazing and the customer service was great, but I’m very unhappy with the stay and won’t return. I paid over $500 for one night at a hotel that normally costs around $100, yet there was no dedicated guest parking. The small lot was shared with the public and barely had space for hotel customers. I had to park across the street in a garage for $65 a day. It had no security and signs saying “park at your own risk,” which didn’t feel safe. Being told to find parking after paying almost $600 for one night was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. The room wasn’t clean either, and a friend found mold in their room. The parking shortage and unsafe garage were the worst parts of the experience. Very disappointing. I won’t stay here again.

We’d stayed for two days and wanted to add another night, but the staff kept calling and asking when we’d come down to extend. We’d already told them several times we’d be down in a minute. When we got there, the interaction felt hostile, as if they thought we wouldn’t pay because we had cash. They insisted we go to CVS right away and come straight back, as though we’d run off. The interaction felt so off that we decided to check out instead. The manager wouldn’t give us our room card and sent a woman with dreadlocks upstairs with us to open the door. We’d been packing and cleaning for 15 minutes when someone knocked and told us to hurry. Five minutes later, 5-7 people came into the room and yelled at us for moving too slowly. They called us dirty and disgusting, even though the room was fairly clean. I offered to give them tips; she first said no, then took the money and asked for more. We were scammed out of 400 dollars FOR TIPS! Then things got worse. The woman with dreadlocks started throwing our belongings out and yelling at me. They became aggressive, and the housekeeper charged at me in the elevator while I was there, a 80 pound girl. Her manager held her back. They even made fun of me for crying. We’re looking into filing a complaint and a grievance. These people were unprofessional, and we’re traumatized.
