Holiday Inn Express and Suites Atlanta Downtown by IHG

The room was clean, and breakfast was great every morning. The whole team made us feel welcome, including all the “monsters” in town for the Mayhem Ball. Kemar was great when we checked in, and Justin was awesome too. Thanks to everyone. I’d stay here again next time I’m in town.

At check-out, a stay I’d rated five stars became a one-star experience. I went to the desk at 7 p.m. the night before my checkout day and was told there’d be a $75 early checkout fee on top of the full booking cost. I still had to pay for the entire last day, which I expected since we’d stayed past the previous day’s checkout. I just wasn’t asking to pay less for the room. The website says checkout is until 11 a.m., but gives no clear time or booking details explaining when this fee applies. Is it midnight, 2 a.m., or 6 a.m. on checkout day? The desk said it was because they couldn’t resell the room, but I was paying for it until 11 a.m. the next day anyway, even if I wasn’t staying there. I’d understand better if the policy weren’t so vague or if leaving early caused extra work. Charging the fee while still charging me for the room feels crazy. To be fair, the staff were incredibly nice at every other interaction, the hotel is good value, the beds were very comfortable, and the location is great.

We had no issues with our clean room, and the hotel’s location made it easy to walk to most major attractions and save on parking. Some rooms are small, depending on where you are, but the location makes up for that. The front desk team were friendly, kind, and great to work with. Kemar helped us with everything, made it fun to come downstairs, and even added a room at the last minute for our guest. I’ll book here again when I return.

I picked this hotel for the Lady Gaga concert, and it was an easy short walk to State Farm Arena. The room was really clean and had a mini fridge and microwave. Breakfast had lots of choices and tasted great. I’d recommend it 10/10.
