Getting around was easy for us, with restaurants, parks, and shops close enough to walk to, and the downtown event we came for was simple to reach. We stayed three nights and had a great time. Everyone we dealt with, from the desk to housekeeping and breakfast, was so welcoming. The gym is on the small side, though there are plenty of dumbbells and several cardio machines for a decent workout. They also had free chocolate chip cookies near the front desk, which was a nice touch. Parking underneath the hotel is tight. Our sedan fit without a problem, and I felt good leaving it there out of sight from the street. I’m not sure how trucks or SUVs manage it, but some did. I’d happily stay here again.
The 24-hour coffee was better than I expected, and breakfast had easy options like waffles and bagels. For a work trip, the setup made it easy to stay comfortable and get things done. There’s plenty of room, it was clean, and the bathroom is large. I also had enough workspace and a handy mini-kitchen, though there’s no stove. A very convenient business stay.
The room had more space than I expected, and the bedding was comfortable. I was on the second floor, and the soundproofing seemed decent despite the traffic and activity outside. It was noticeable, but not unbearable. There aren’t many amenities, but this place works well if you need to come and go, especially with the MARTA station right nearby. Parking is a bit of a squeeze, and getting in and out can be awkward, though being able to walk to downtown spots made that less of a concern. There’s also a nearby Hampton Inn with a rooftop bar and restaurant and valet parking, sometimes for the same or a lower price. For value, I think Hampton Inn has the edge. This location is still a good option if having a kitchen area matters to you.
Both rooms I was shown were noisy. One faced the main street, and the other was at the far end facing a neighboring building’s HVAC tower. I had asked for a quiet room, but the front desk first assigned me the street-facing one. After I asked to move, Security walked me through a few options, all at one end or the other. The desk insisted there were no rooms between those ends. By 7 pm I chose one, though its phone line and alarm clock didn’t work. The engineer said the phone couldn’t be fixed. I submitted an online survey asking for follow-up and never heard back. The biggest shock came when I asked the front desk how many nights I could cancel without a fee. While I was trying to get that information, staff canceled all three nights of my booking without my consent, saying other guests were waiting for the room. After I complained, the same staff made a new reservation for $612.29 plus a refundable $100 deposit, $65 less than the booking they had canceled. I took that lower price as a goodwill gesture meant to address the complaint. At checkout, even though the cancellation was made by the desk without my approval and nobody had followed up on the phone or alarm request, General Manager David Ragland said they would not honor the new rate or offer compensation. He said they would only match the original Booking.com rate that the hotel itself had canceled. The front desk and management were rude and disappointing. Running the business without integrity or credibility is unacceptable and shameful.
The breakfast was tiny, with hardly any options. We skipped it because it was gross. The night staff at the front desk were especially rude, giving us annoyed looks and attitude when we checked in or asked for help. Our TV was damaged, and the lights and phone stopped working, but the desk didn’t sort any of it out.
