Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Atlanta - Buckhead

I found this hotel by accident. It’s near the mall in Buckhead, but it doesn’t seem like a place for a family, kids, or a couple. There appears to be nightlife there, with lots of strange people walking around in hoodies and people sitting in cars while you’re out on the balconies. I was told there wasn’t anything to worry about in terms of someone doing something to you. There’s also a twist to this hotel, but I’ll leave it at that, lol.

My first-floor room had a noticeable musty odor, and the air conditioner smelled the same. I had to switch it off, which made for a pretty uncomfortable stay on a cold night.

For the low price and convenient location, I thought the place was pretty nice. It wasn’t loud, even with several festivals in town, and I never felt unsafe. People were out in the parking lot late at night, but they minded their own business. The room was clean when I arrived, and I wasn’t charged the $50 security deposit other reviewers mentioned. I booked through Expedia, though, so I don’t know if that made a difference. The website said my room would have a microwave and refrigerator, but neither was there. Nobody came to clean during my stay, and I had to go to the front office for more towels. They told me I could have two more at most, which I didn’t understand.

The elevator smelled like old urine, and the ice machine wouldn’t shut off, spilling ice everywhere. At checkout I tried to tell someone, but no one was around. The main lobby was closed, and guests were directed to use the vending room, which has glass, so there was no lobby coffee as advertised. I paid to upgrade to a “premium” room, but there was nothing premium about it. The first room smelled so strongly of bleach I could barely breathe, so I moved. In the new room, I discovered in the morning that there was no soap or shampoo. It was also supposed to include a snack box, which was missing. Worst Red Roof I’ve ever stayed at. A total dump. Avoid it at all costs.
