Clarion Pointe Bloomington – Normal near I-55 and University

The service was friendly and personable, but I ended up having to deal with the problems myself. My first room had no running water, so I was moved. The second smelled weird, and the towels and sheets were old and stained, badly in need of better cleaning or replacement. The toilet looked stained too, plaster was coming off the wall, and the phone wasn’t connected. Breakfast was pretty lacking, and the coffee creamer was curdling. Just a couple comments 😭

What stayed with me was the sincere kindness. There’s no pretense here, just people who seem to care about their work and about guests. You feel looked after, and that sense of care is a real gift. The rooms are remarkably clean and comfortable, and the quiet, restful atmosphere makes it easy to take a break from everyday life. Nights were calm, and I felt safe and able to relax.

I pulled in because I was too tired to keep driving. The bed was comfortable, and I slept okay, but the room had several problems. The entry light didn’t work, so I walked into total darkness and used my phone to find another light. It was 30 degrees outside and the heat was off, so the room was freezing. I skipped the shower because there was visible dirt around the tub, and the wall near the showerhead needed repair. It was enough for one night’s sleep, but I probably wouldn’t return.

The owner and staff were some of the kindest, warmest people I’ve met in hospitality. They made us feel like family right away. The hotel was spotless, quiet, and very comfortable, and I slept like a baby every night. You can tell they take pride in keeping the place welcoming. It felt peaceful and like a home away from home, with people who really care about their guests. I can’t recommend it enough, and I’ll definitely return. If you want somewhere safe for children, this is it. 10 stars if I could ….
