The Burgess Hotel, Atlanta, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The bar was great, and our room was beautiful. We were in the area for a birthday dinner at Hal’s down the road, and it was easy to walk back afterward. On arrival, a pleasant man at the door helped with our bags and parking the car. The front desk gentleman was wonderful to deal with and very helpful. We’ll definitely return if we’re nearby.

The room was roomy and nicely decorated, and the bed was so cozy. We also loved the well-stocked bar and delicious drinks. Josh C. gave us such kind, thoughtful service, way beyond what we expected. We’re really grateful and would absolutely recommend staying here.

The rooms were the real letdown. This seems to have been a former Hampton Inn or similar, and it still has those old wall-mounted HVAC units. In our first room, the unit rattled loudly every time it started, so we asked to switch. The next room never cooled below 72 degrees, and we didn’t feel like moving a second time. The public areas look beautiful and service was mostly pretty good. I’d go to FIA for a meal or a drink at the attractive bar, but I’d avoid sleeping here.

Yannick made an unexpectedly difficult night in Atlanta so much better. My flight out was cancelled, and I had to stay overnight without my checked luggage, basically with only what was in my backpack. The manager checked me in himself, greeted me warmly, and even offered chocolate. He later brought a dental kit to my room and arranged a robe and slippers so I could get comfortable. The bartender was wonderful too, letting me order a glass of wine just after closing. I’m so glad I picked this beautiful hotel, and I may plan a weekend in Atlanta just to stay here again and enjoy the property. Thank you, Burgess Hotel and Yannick!
