The Westin Buckhead Atlanta

The room was clean and fine, but we had a frustrating problem with our late checkout. The night before, the front desk said we could stay until 3 PM with no issue, and our key cards were updated for that time. The next morning, a rude woman at the desk shook her head and told us in a condescending tone that it wasn’t possible. She wouldn’t listen when we explained what the other employee had confirmed, took our cards, and changed the checkout time to 1 PM, cutting three hours off our stay without an apology. Desmond was great and very accommodating. Aside from him, we weren’t impressed, especially for such an expensive hotel. There are much better places in Atlanta. I’d suggest looking into the The American Hotel by Hilton Tapestry Collection.

The cleaning staff were friendly and nice. The hotel itself was fine, a pretty standard Westin, but nothing remarkable. My room had no free water bottles and was missing its ironing board. When I asked the front desk, I waited 20 minutes and they sent up another iron, but still no board.

The room was clean and had a nice view, but the service didn’t match the price. We were told the evening before that a 3 PM late checkout was approved, then the front desk changed it to 1 PM the next morning without an explanation or apology. That cut our stay short. Desmond was kind and helpful, but we left disappointed and frustrated.

The lobby, bar, and restaurant are beautiful, and the hotel seems like a good fit for conferences and events. Check-in was quick and easy. Parking is $55 each night, which is expensive, though apparently typical for Buckhead. The deck looked a little sketchy, dark, and dirty, but it was safe and uncrowded. It’s a convenient spot near Lennox Square, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. My room was very clean and comfortable, with plush beds and soft sheets. The city view from the sixth floor looked especially pretty at night. In the lobby, the water station is a handy, more environmentally friendly alternative to bottles in the room, with still, sparkling, and alkaline options.
