It’s a five-minute walk to the beach and the price wasn’t too high. Bobby, the manager, was especially kind and helpful. I’d stay here again.

I went to the desk about the stains, musty smell, apparent painted-over mold in the back corner, tiny bathroom, missing bulbs, and a cockroach by the AC unit. The manager apologized and offered another room. But while I was walking my service dog there with my girlfriend, he ran out of the office yelling at us. He said he didn’t care that the dog was a service animal or about the law. He did refund the credit card charge, and there were no further problems after that. I’d been doubtful because of the price and the hotel’s two-star rating, and the metal key at check-in seemed odd. Then I found milky white stains on the comforters and yellow marks on the sheets. Stay away.

The room cost $98, and somehow the tax came to $12, with no other fees. The owner was friendly, but I felt like he’d stolen from me. The staff were friendly, and the cleaner did a good job, but I still felt dirty staying in the room. The location is great.

When I entered the room at Sandpiper Inn in Morehead City, NC, a huge cockroach was crawling across the floor. The bedding was stained and filthy, and the non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke. I asked at the front desk for another room, and the owner agreed at first. But once he saw my service dog, he told me I couldn’t stay and had to leave. When I brought up my rights under the ADA, he said he didn’t care. His wife then shouted across the lobby that I had to leave too. I found the treatment humiliating and aggressive, and felt I was refused service solely because of my service dog. I’ve never had an experience like that. Avoid this place. The owners were rude and discriminatory, and acted like the law didn’t matter. Spend more for somewhere clean, professional, and lawful.
