Candlewood Suites Detroit Auburn Hills

Being away from my family for months was hard, but the people at Candlewood Suites Detroit Auburn Hills made it feel much less lonely. I stayed there for over three months and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was clean and felt safe, and the staff kept making an effort to help me feel comfortable. I’ve already told my company about the stay so we can keep doing business with this location. Steve, the manager, set a welcoming tone. He always greeted me when I passed his office. Laura at the front desk was professional and friendly, and seeing her made it feel like coming home. She clearly made a difference for other guests too. Mike, the engineer, went above and beyond for my specific needs and cared about both guests and the property. Rosa from housekeeping took such pride in her work and made my room somewhere I could relax. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a place that values its guests.

The bedding was surprisingly soft, and the bed was comfortable. The thermostat worked well, as did the water temperature and pressure, unlike at some nearby hotels where my coworkers stayed. The room was clean and nice, and the concierge was friendly both at check in and check out. It was conveniently located, just half a mile from my destination. I didn’t try the amenities, breakfast, or room service, so I can’t comment on those, but I’d stay again if I’m back in the area.

The one thing I liked was the free coffee, and the staff were very nice. The rest of the stay was disappointing for what I paid. There was dust on top of the refrigerator and dishes left in the dishwasher, so housekeeping didn’t do a good job. There was no TV guide, meaning you had to flip through hundreds of channels. For both days, I couldn’t adjust the temperature, which stayed at 70 and felt warm. I can’t sleep in a warm room. I didn’t see a point in complaining since I won’t be back. Look elsewhere.

We had a great stay and would love to return if we’re back in the Detroit area. The room was spacious and had more amenities than our family of four with a pet needed. The hotel was very clean, and the pool, gym, free parking, free Wi-Fi, and smart TVs were all good. The TVs only supported casting, with no remote controlled apps. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the maintenance team was great too.
