Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Augusta Washington Rd./I-20

I checked in at 9:37pm after driving two and a half hours to Augusta for work, and was back in my car heading home by 11:15pm. I’ve never had a hotel or motel experience this bad, for work or leisure. I tried four rooms because I didn’t want to drive home, and every one was disgusting. There was hair on the beds except in the last room, hair on the towels, lots of toenail clippings on the floor, ash on the bedside lamps, black dots on mattresses, missing mattress pads on some beds, and several strange stains on the sheets. There were bed bugs, and someone was smoking in a room and burning a candle to hide the smell. It was an actual nightmare. I regretted not leaving after the first room. While I was downstairs for the second time, a couple checked in. The third time I came back down, she was moving them to another floor, so it seemed the dirt wasn’t limited to the floors or the “King suite” rooms I’d seen. I didn’t ask for a refund, so I don’t know if they offer one. Do yourself a favor and don’t book here, to save time and avoid a possible bed bug infestation. I was rushing to find a room or get back on the road, so I didn’t get good photos or pictures of everything. The ones I have can give you an idea, and you can decide. I can’t understand how this hotel has 4.4 stars; what I saw deserved no stars.

Everything else about the hotel was nice, but housekeeping didn’t clean the room properly. There was trash beneath the bed, and the bathroom grout looked mildewed, as if someone had covered it with white culk. The bathroom layout itself was nice.

Dominique and Walter at the Fairfield Marriott were amazing throughout the day. My room wasn’t heating properly, and both of them did everything they could to make me comfortable. They were kind, attentive, and focused on fixing the problem instead of brushing it aside. Their professionalism and upbeat attitude made a frustrating situation manageable, and I noticed how much effort they put in. This is the kind of service that keeps guests coming back. This was our second stay, and it’s become our go to Augusta place. Ray gave top tier service at check-in, and the room was great. There wasn’t a coffee maker in it, so I had to go downstairs for my morning Java. The breakfast selection was really, really good.
