Garner Hotel August West by IHG

The room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, while the common areas were tidy and the place felt quiet and relaxing. Staff were welcoming and helpful from check-in through check-out. I appreciated the convenient location and the care given to details around the property. I had a great stay, would recommend this hotel, and would come back.

Yazmin, the hotel manager, is a very good person, and her staff share her friendly, kind vibe. I travel a lot and am a platinum HIG member. Usually I stay at Holiday inn and find them good hotels, but this one feels different. Everything was very clean, and breakfast was good, though there was no pancake or waffel maker. Thank you all. I’ll be back.

The beds were comfortable and the compact bathroom worked fine, but there were enough cleanliness, design, and maintenance problems that I’d struggle to recommend this hotel at any price until they’re addressed. We didn’t try the pool or fitness room, so I can’t comment on those. Fresh coffee in the lobby was a real bright spot, though breakfast wasn’t good. The sausages looked dried out, and the eggs sat in some kind of liquid that didn’t inspire confidence. The check-in desk staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, our first room wasn’t ready, with one bed only partly made and dirty floors. They did move us when I called, but that was a frustrating hassle when we arrived late with tired kids. The curtains barely block light reflected off the neighboring building’s white roof, so light sleepers may want a sleep mask. There are no closet doors, the ironing board sticks out into the room, and the dressers have no drawers. Individually small annoyances, but they add up. The elevators look neglected, with peeling paint and buttons that don’t light up, and the whole property, including the common areas and guest rooms, could use a thorough deep clean.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well cared for, which made the visit even better. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile, especially Lili and Faye. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
