Hampton Inn by Hilton Augusta Fort Gordon

Housekeeping was excellent. The two housekeepers, a short, heavyset woman and a man with a bull nose piercing, did immaculate work. But I won’t return until the water shortage, double charging, and rudeness are fixed. It took six days to get Hilton to refund the extra charge. I love Hilton properties, including Hamptons, just not this location. The morning front desk agent told me to insert a card even though I’d prepaid. I asked if it was just for incidentals, and she said yes, then charged me the full amount. She didn’t apologize. When I asked for water, she refused and said it was in the room. I’ve been a LD and never been denied a $.30 cent bottle of water. Later, by my vehicle, I heard a loud exchange between a manager and two desk agents. I didn’t catch all the details, but it sounded like the older, short agent had made a mistake and the tall, younger agent was trying to fix it when the manager shouted, “my name is on the wall of this building.” It sounded demeaning and power hungry. Any mistake can be corrected. Hearing the agents only say “ok I got you” was shocking. If the manager spoke to my child or grandmother that way, we’d have another conversation. Corrections should be handled privately.

A pretty basic, lower-end Hilton. The room was reasonably clean but had lots of stains and was showing its age. The front desk didn’t feel welcoming, and the staff seemed annoyed. Breakfast was what you’d expect: waffles, hot prefab eggs and sausage, and yogurt. Diamond status didn’t get me any extra perks here. Meh.

The front desk was wonderful and helped me with any questions or problems. Housekeeping was great, and breakfast was good. I have no complaints and will come back next time I’m in the area.

The lobby was welcoming, the area was quiet just off the main road, and everyone we met was incredibly friendly. Breakfast had good options and was great. I wish that were the whole story of our five day stay. We asked about gym hours and were told we could use it anytime, but nobody mentioned it was closed for remodeling. We also weren’t told the laundry room was closed for remodeling, which caused a real predicament around 10pm one night. We were in town for a sports tournament, along with several other guests, so that was especially frustrating. The worst part was housekeeping. Nobody came into our room during the entire stay. The sheets were never changed, the bed wasn’t made, we got no clean towels, the dirty ones stayed on the bathroom floor, and the trash wasn’t taken out. There was zero cleaning. When we raised it with the desk, we got an excuse. I’ve never stayed in a hotel without housekeeping. I wouldn’t leave my own home for that many days without wiping things down, making the bed, or getting clean towels. It was gross. I called the corporate line the night before checkout and filed a complaint. For what we paid, we were very, very disappointed and won’t stay again. The very sweet front desk staff couldn’t make up for missing promised amenities and housekeeping.
