OYO Hotel Augusta Downtown

The service has been quick on the couple of times I’ve stayed, and the rooms are lovely. It’s a nice place without feeling stuffy, in a wonderful location. I had a city-view room, though I’m not sure that view justifies paying extra. I didn’t need to rearrange anything, but the mini-bar fridges let you move items around or put your own things inside without being charged.

The room was fantastic, and the staff made me feel welcome with their friendly, professional manner and helpful information. I’d found a great discount and was already dining at the Augusta Downtown, so I decided to stay. I’m glad I did. The property has been updated, with hardwood floors, kitchen tile, and very current bathroom tile and fixtures.

We really enjoyed staying in Augusta, and the hotel was a big part of that. On arrival, staff welcomed us and shared local tips, including restaurant recommendations, which were all exceptional. Breakfast was provided each morning and made a great start to the day, and they also offered afternoon tea. Our August visit was hot, so we were glad to use the terrace and its great view of the Central.

I won’t stay at an OYO Hotel again after this. The hostess was nice and processed my refund quickly when I asked after checking in. The arrival sign warned guests to inspect the room first because refunds wouldn’t be given after check-in. The photos and positive reviews didn’t match what I found: the hotel was in a dark industrial area, with a huge junk pile by one building and people drinking and smoking in the parking lot and on a second-floor balcony. My supposedly non-smoking room smelled strongly of smoke, had cigarette burns in the comforter, and no available wifi network. It also seemed suspicious that many favorable reviews had been posted at the same time and didn’t describe the property accurately. I thought booking online was a mistake as soon as I arrived. Later, I got an email telling me to enter my credit card details on the hotel website to complete the refund. I ignored it, and fortunately the refund still went through.
