Ramada by Wyndham Augusta Fort Gordon

The free full breakfast in the lobby was the one real bright spot. The room itself was dirty: stained curtains, dusty tables, lamps, and coffee supplies, plus an already-open coffee packet. There was a dirty plastic knife under the table and a used straw by the bed. The bathroom looked passable, but smelled musty, and the toilet kept running until we jiggled the handle. We only had one set of towels for a double room, and the TV remote didn’t work. At check-in, they also required a $100 deposit on top of the bill, with no mention of it when we booked. We could cover it, but I don’t know what would happen if someone couldn’t, and they said it could take 7 to 10 business days to be credited back. They should put less into breakfast and spend more on cleaning and updating the rooms. I won’t stay here again.

We came to town to take my Son to Ft Gordon, and this stay was disgusting. The “white” linens were yellow, the pillows were old, and the room smelled of mildew. The toilet leaked all over the floor nonstop, its handle was broken, and there was trash behind it. The bathroom floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years, and it seemed like housekeeping wiped things with a dirty, wet rag. There was black mildew on the ceiling and in the tile grout. When we asked for an ice bucket, they handed us a grocery bag and said, “at least it holds more.” No one from housekeeping came to offer sheets or towels or take out the garbage. People were drinking, smoking weed, and making noise outside our window all night. It was obvious that a lot of savory people live there. I have no words for how bad this place was. The health department needs to get involved. I took photos and plan to report it to BBB, Health Department and corporate Ramada/Wyndham. Calling this a roach motel would be generous. DO NOT STAY HERE. 🤮

I was only here for one night because my flight was delayed. The room was clean, and there were enough towels and washcloths. I liked the free soaps, especially the Dove facial soap, which I hadn’t smelled since my grandmother died in the 1990s. There was a microwave and coffee area in the room, but the window unit was hard to regulate, with its high/low heat and cool and fan settings. Breakfast wasn’t good, from the unseasoned, unbuttered grits to the eggs, which were the same. There was no sweet tea or other drink besides coffee and water.

Ms. Phyllis was a sweetheart, and the staff were professional and friendly. I appreciate her hospitality. The room and other guests are why I’m giving only two stars. It’s supposed to be smoke-free, but my room smelled like cigarettes and weed, which became overwhelming even though I can usually tolerate it. A wasp was flying around, though luckily the light killed it. There were frozen bugs in the freezer and dead ones on the soap tray. The bed had hairs that definitely weren’t mine and minor stains from who knows where. I barely saw housekeeping, though I only stayed part of a night because I couldn’t get comfortable, so maybe I missed them. This place has potential, but it needs more staff for regular housekeeping and stricter rules about smoking in or near rooms.
