America's Paradise Resort

Cottage 3 has the best lake view on the property. It wasn’t fancy and the bathroom was small, but there was plenty of room for two adults and two young kids. We loved the little beach, and barely used the pool because the kids preferred the beach and lake. The complimentary kayaks and paddleboards were a great bonus. Both kids tried kayaking for the first time and loved it. We had no reason to contact the front desk, and the cottage worked perfectly for a quick weekend away. It’s great for younger children. We’ll look at booking again for a longer weekend.

Missy, the manager, was especially friendly and accommodating, and the staff were outstanding. The cottages were clean and well stocked. They even provide firewood if you want a fire at night. It’s a perfect hideaway when you want a break from the chaos. The activities available were convenient and came at no extra charge. We’ll definitely return.

We had trouble with outlets that didn’t work in both the bathroom and kitchen. We texted because that was the only timely way to reach anyone, and they said they’d let maintenance know. Nobody ever came, so we had to use an outlet in the bedroom for the hair dryer. Trying to do your hair without a mirror is something else. The shower was very small, though the appliances were all in good condition. Our cottage, number 10, was very clean and cute, with superb beds and nicely chosen furniture. The pool was clean and working. The staff we met were friendly and accommodating, but the place seems understaffed and the current owners apparently live off-site. Our family last stayed at the former America's Paradise Resort 20 years ago. Back then the owner was on site, had a great rapport with guests, and maintenance issues in the cottages were handled within 24 hours.

The grounds crew spent much of the day mowing and weed eating, which cut into the quiet atmosphere people come here for. I do understand they were working to keep the resort looking nice, though, and we definitely plan to return. I’d recommend it. My girlfriend and I stayed in Cottage #3 a while back and loved it. It was very clean, and the back deck had a beautiful view of Kentucky Lake. There were kayaks to use, plus lots of games and other things to do.
