Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Downtown South Congress Hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was especially impressed by the breakfast. I usually skip hotel breakfasts, even when they’re free, but this one was worth having. We didn’t get much hot water during our stay, though they were nice enough to make up for it. The location is great for downtown events, and you can walk to almost anything nearby. There’s ample parking. The rooms are decent, and they’re redoing them now, which should be nice.

The rooms could use a little updating, but the employees really make this place. The front desk guy, who I think worked 48 of the 72 hours I was there, went above and beyond from check-in through checkout. Breakfast was impressive too, especially the lady making omelets, and the bartenders were another shining point. The complimentary Diamond parking is great, something other properties could learn from. I’ll definitely be back.

The location was great, the room was clean, and the staff we dealt with were really good. The place could use some upkeep, though: paint was peeling in the bathroom and the bar sink didn't work. There was just one Tesla-style charger in the garage, marked with another business's signs, so I wasn't sure if we were allowed to leave the car plugged in overnight.

We were sent to a different garage the hotel recommends for guests, and my car was broken into there. Luckily, I leave nothing in the car, so the thief only left some trash behind. The front desk woman just shrugged and gave me an incident report. She was rude, and if you have even a slight accent, don't expect her to make eye contact or show basic courtesy. The room also wasn't worth what we paid. The water pressure was weaker than my pee stream. Don't stay here. There are better hotels nearby for less money.
