La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Parmer/Tech Ridge

I’d heard the negative reviews, but stayed because the location was convenient. The hotel turned out to be really nice. The lobby was very clean, and my King suite was even better, absolutely gorgeous, with a super comfortable bed. It’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’ll definitely come back.

The room decor was nice, and they moved me quickly after I reported the mini fridge leaking a big puddle onto the floor. But the sink in the second room wouldn't drain, and the broken lever left water sitting there until morning. I heard that four other guests had also been moved the night before because of room problems. The building seems fairly new or recently remodeled, but the owners don't seem to be getting repairs done properly. It's family run, and I'm not sure they can keep up with what a hotel needs yet. I wanted to like this La Quinta, but I'll pass until they have a better way to maintain the rooms.

The WiFi didn't work at all, and the room phone was dead, so I couldn't call the front desk for help. I reported both problems, but the clerk was dismissive and wouldn't take reasonable steps to fix them or offer any accommodation. Without those basic advertised amenities, the room wasn't suitable for work or normal use, and the service made the inconvenience worse. There are other places to stay. Don't book here.

The bed was lumpy enough to leave my back hurting, the walls and ceiling were so thin I could hear people walking in the hallway and upstairs, and the towels felt cheap. There wasn't a blanket in the room, even though the receptionist said one should have been provided. Breakfast ran out of bacon, and a broken luggage cart sat on the second floor throughout my stay without staff moving it. I also noticed stains on the hallway walls. There were plenty of room problems too: the hook had been torn off the bathroom door, tape was peeling at a wall seam, some outlets by the lamp and alarm clock didn't work, and there were stains on the carpet and bathroom wallpaper. The shower pressure was extremely low. I asked reception to get it fixed, but nobody from maintenance came. The hotel is relatively new, yet already shows a lot of wear. I wouldn't recommend staying until these problems are sorted out.
