Hyatt Place New York/Yonkers

Housekeeping staff were very nice, though some rooms smelled bad and caused respiratory issues. I don’t blame housekeeping for that. It seems like a management policy problem because the non-smoking rules aren’t enforced, and sometimes the elevators and whole floors smelled like marijuana. The hotel is dog friendly too, which could cause some issues. Some front desk employees were kind and helpful, while others were rude, incompetent, and dishonest. The manager and GM handled things in a way that felt deeply disappointing and unfair to guests. Our reservation was mistakenly cancelled by the front desk. The managers initially denied it, said everything was “fine” and “fixed,” and checked us in. But the dates in their system still didn’t match what we’d booked and received confirmation for. Then they blamed us and the third party, first saying we cancelled on our end, then saying the third party had cancelled, and charged us for the room again. Someone also told me there’d been a miscommunication and staff cancelled the reservation, so which was it? When we challenged them and they ran out of excuses, the desk staff became downright rude. The third party called and confronted the same employee, who admitted “the hotel” had cancelled it. Two minutes later I went downstairs and asked if he’d just spoken with the third party. He ignored me, then when I asked again, shook his head and said, “About what?” before walking away. In response to the owner’s reply: stop posting ChatGPT responses and focus on real solutions. Refund the double charges, apologize for the mistakes, and give ethics training to the staff who need it.

I had a nice time ghost hunting here because of the place’s dark history. The service was nice and the food was awesome, 10/10. I had one ghost experience in my room: the door closed by itself, and the temperature beside me dropped for a few seconds before going back to normal. Definitely go check it out and ghost hunt. It’s a nice paranormal spot. I’m in New York!

Noel at the front desk was awesome, so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the little breakfast in the morning, especially the really good coffee, and there’s a nice lobby bar for cocktails at night. My stay was wonderful, apart from the heater/air conditioner in the room being loud.

The air quality was amazing in the room and lobby. Ghost hunting was fun, and I definitely recommend giving it a try here. It’s a great place with a great history behind it. Check out Charlie Reynolds’ story to understand. The food and service were great too.
