Wingate Suites by Wyndham Youngstown - Austintown

We stayed four nights and never got room service. I understand about Christmas Day, but when I went to the desk, they said housekeeping had marked the room as serviced. It makes me wonder whether we were sleeping on sheets that had been used and not laundered. We won't return, and I'll be contacting the Wingate franchise HQ to complain. In response to Wingate's comments: staff brought fresh towels once, and we had to go to the front desk three times to get more. Your room service staff are obviously filing false service reports.

The night clerk was friendly and efficient, and the room was a pleasant surprise. We expected something small and mediocre for the price, but it was spacious, clean, and updated, with a separate sitting area. I'd definitely stay again.

The staff were very friendly, and the room was clean. When the bathroom sink wouldn't drain, they moved us to another room. Both rooms had terrible wind noise through the windows, which I assume have bad seals. In the second room the fridge leaked all over the floor. The property is a bit run down, with wallpaper peeling off the walls. We booked this hotel specifically to use the pool, only to find its heater was broken when we arrived. There was no offer of compensation despite the amenities being below par. When I reported the leaking fridge, I got the sense the staff have been doing their best with this location.

At 2 am the cigarette smell was so strong we could hardly stand it, but it was too late to leave, so we stayed. The rooms were very outdated, with old furnishings and what looked like 1980s lamps. There wasn't any kind of USB port. The sink had a large crack and sprayed water everywhere. The carpet on the stairs to the lobby was badly worn, tearing, and so stained it was hard to tell its original color. This wasn't what we expected from a Wyndham. It was a terrible stay. Save your money, we won't stay at a Wyndham again. They reply to other reviews saying cleanliness matters to them, but that obviously wasn't true here, as nothing had been cleaned.
