Catalina Island Duplex - Steps to Beach & Pier!

We spent five days on Catalina, and loved staying at Seacrest Inn. We had booked another room, but when we arrived Michael kindly offered us an upgrade since Sumner Cottage was vacant for the week. We adored it. The cottage had two separate bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom, plus a lovely porch, and we were comfortable the whole time. It was also super close to the grocery store. If you want an affordable place to stay on the island, this is a good spot.

They gave us a free room upgrade when we arrived, and the employees were really kind. We could borrow beach towels at no charge and leave our bags in the front office before check-in or after check-out. The location made it easy to pop back to the room for a rest or bathroom break and then head straight out to the shops or beach. The rooftop was being worked on during our visit, but the view from up there was stunning, as the pictures show. We'd love to spend time there next visit. Our ferry was canceled because of bad weather, and they let us stay an extra night at a discounted rate. I'd definitely return.

Room #3, the seashell, was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The jacuzzi tub was amazing, and I gave my tired feet a massage in it I'll never forget. The tub can get slippery, so use the mat if you shower. Air conditioning kept the room comfortable, and the fan was a lifesaver. The faux fireplace is really just a flickering light, and it made enough noise that we turned it off at night. I'd bring slippers next time, since the hardwood and tile were tough on tired feet. The location was AMAZING, and check-in was easy. The receptionist personally showed us the room. They welcomed our pets, which was so nice. We were on the bottom floor, right by a pleasant lounge area. The TV could stream, but once everyone else started streaming, nobody could watch anything. We didn't spend enough time in the room for that to matter much. It felt personal, almost like staying with an aunt. Check-out was easy, and the manager thanked us when we returned the keys. We loved our stay and hope to come back.

We found a last-minute opening at Seacrest Inn in Avalon, and the people there made the trip feel personal. Michael and Amber shared local tips, from good rental deals to where to go during the busiest parts of the day, and helped us figure out which Avalon sights to see. They were warm and attentive throughout. They also let us drop our bags early so we could start exploring, then stored them after checkout so we could enjoy the rest of the day. The internet had a few minor hiccups, apparently from the provider, and Michael and Amber were diligent about troubleshooting and offering alternatives. The inn is cozy and charming, with a character that fits Catalina. It felt like visiting old friends who happen to run the place. If you find an opening, book it. We're glad we did.
