Residence Inn by Marriott Hartford Avon

The staff were some of the friendliest I've met at a hotel, and the included breakfast had lots of options. Rooms have the kitchen items you need, and there's a decent gym. The location is great too, within walking distance of Whole Foods and the bike trail.

I booked a studio with a spacious kitchen and bar area. It had a clean, well maintained two burner ceramic cooktop, full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker. There were clean utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. No oven, but I wasn't expecting one. The room was comfortable, and I enjoyed staying here for my trip. The place was tidy, which is all I ask of a hotel, though plenty fall short of that. The Residence Inn Avon exceeded my expectations, and the staff were friendly and helpful at check in. I had trouble finding the lobby, probably because my driver dropped me at the back of the property. Some signs pointing to the lobby would have helped.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, but our two bedroom room wasn't set up well for four adults. There weren't enough glasses or plates for a place that could sleep four or more, and the couch only seated two. The listing picture showed a small couch and a chair, with plenty of space before the window. Our room had no chair. I asked about it on the first night and was told they'd bring one, but it never arrived. If a room had to be missing a chair, it would've made more sense for the one bedroom. The two bedroom really should have more seating. Over our six night stay, the room was never restocked, so we ran out of body wash and had to use the tiny bar of soap.

The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe, which was a real plus. The place was clean, though the rooms seemed dated and could use some modern updates. I didn't like the bathroom setup. Breakfast was good, but yogurt and juice would have been nice additions.
