Quality Inn & Suites Bakersfield

The grounds looked nice, with palm trees and a small fountain, and our room was clean. The pool and hot tub were a plus, though the hot tub only runs from 9 AM to 9 PM. We arrived too late to use it, and I wish it stayed open earlier in the morning or later at night. Breakfast comes by voucher at a nearby restaurant. It was fairly standard, with sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, coffee, and juice, but a little better than breakfast at most places. We were happy with our one-night stay and would recommend it, aside from the pool and hot tub hours.

The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, and our Queen Suite was quiet and felt set apart from the rest. But the room had few amenities and not much useful furniture. The climate control never worked, the freezer was badly iced over, and the shower did not seem to have been fully cleaned or sanitized. The visit was satisfactory at best.

We liked the stay enough to add an extra day. I was there last summer on a birthday road trip and found the hotel peaceful, with friendly staff who could suggest things to do nearby. Both our room and the shared areas were very clean. I meant to write this review then and kept forgetting. I'd definitely recommend it and hope to come back.

This is my go-to motel, and I stay here a lot. For the price, it's excellent: the room was updated and very nice, and the staff were as helpful as could be. There were plenty of towels and shampoos. Breakfast was great, with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and breads.
