Quality Inn & Suites near Downtown Bakersfield

At 11:30 pm, I walked into a room that felt like it was 107 degrees, with no AC running. It took an hour and a half to cool down, and when I called the front desk to ask if the AC was broken, I got no solution. I'd booked the room ahead of time. Later, my daughter went to get food, and since we'd only been given one key, the desk refused to give her a second one and said I had to come let her in. The place is old and the pictures are misleading. The pool wasn't open, and my family just wanted to cool off. If you're not from the hood, find another hotel. I'll never stay here again.

We left immediately and got our money back. First, when we pulled into the lot, we saw two prostitutes doing business there. Then in room 109, we found blood and other bodily fluids on the sofa bed sheets. At the desk, the employee said the rooms were kept clean and that she hadn't noticed the prostitutes moving from the front of the building to the side and performing tricks in parked vehicles. We were moved to room 129, where there was dried semen on top of the sofa cushions. The employee seemed not to care about any of it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Shame on the hotel for letting this happen.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. I had a lovely stay and recommend the hotel.

The maintenance man kept busy, and the continental breakfast was well stocked, but we didn't feel safe in what turned out to be a poor neighborhood. I was also worried about unwanted bugs, though we weren't bitten. The front desk girls were nice at check-in. In the morning, the staff weren't welcoming, didn't say good morning, and mostly sat on their phones instead of being productive. I'm sure corporate wouldn't be happy with that. Next time we'll research the neighborhood more. You get what you pay for, I guess. We won't be back.
