I checked out about 10 apartments in Baltimore before choosing 39 West Lexington. The staff, all SM employees, were consistently friendly and helpful, including the considerate maintenance team. Since I'm due next month, I especially appreciated how they looked out for me. They even left a small birthday card and cupcake, which touched me. For the same price as one Light street apartment, 39 Lexington offered a lower rent, a better view, and twice the space. The lease could also be adjusted for our situation, and online weekly payments were possible, unlike at that Light street building. Day-to-day, it was easy to use the utilities and the building stayed clean. There weren't many residents per floor, so laundry machines were usually available, and I rarely had to wait long for an elevator. Light street had nicer-looking facilities, including a lounge, pool, and fancier interiors. But for actually living there, 39 West Lexington was the better choice for us.

We had a good 1.5 years at 39 w lex. There were some cooling problems last year, but management handled them. With security in the apartment building, I never felt unsafe.

On 03/07/18 Six months ago, my son and I moved into this wonderful place temporarily while our main home was being renovated. We had such a great experience and wanted for nothing. Every concierge, property manager, and maintenance worker at 39 W. Lexington Str was fantastic. My aides and nurses liked the location too. I especially loved having hot chocolate day and night. The downtown congestion was the one downside. I'd sum up the stay as "All access GRANTED!" On 08/22/17 So far, so good. The view is excellent!

The open house is coming up, but don't judge by the lobby. 39 used to feel prestigious, with a concierge greeting you and amenities available. Now the staff are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, and the place feels like it's going down fast. The generators outside are there because we've been without AC for a MONTH. Of the four elevators, only two work, and if one of those acts up, we're down to one. Waits can be long. The advertised amenities aren't available: no pool or sauna access, and the business center doesn't work. There's no WiFi, the printer is broken, and one computer has no keyboard or mouse. The sauna's been closed for a year. The club room supposedly closes at midnight, and the concierge is absent during the day and evening. Taylor, the new hire, doesn't seem to know what she's doing or pay attention. Security is often at the desk, but they don't work for Southern Management and are usually asleep or on their phones. Our community manager, Douglas, is living in the guest suite with his girlfriend, who was fired. He's rude when residents run into him. His boss Ericka is even worse and talks to us like we're high school students. Tamika, the head of maintenance, lives here too, and she's unprofessional and has a bad attitude. I saw her move in while on the clock, and I often hear her complain about residents and our requests. Leasing staff live here as well, and their behavior feels classless. Having so many employees in the building has made things uncomfortable. It's hard to see them as professionals after watching how they act off duty. We want the old staff back. Where are Steve, Benedict, and Allison, the people who knew us and communicated so well?

There's a real sense of community here, which is rare in busy Downtown Baltimore, and we've loved our time at 39 W Lexington. Doug, Taylor, Tamika, and Tiffany deserve credit for helping the new management team get started. They've all been warm and attentive with us as residents, and Tamika has been especially sweet to our baby girl. That personal touch means a lot. Our move-out did get off to a slow start, since it took management a while to respond and get things moving. Once they did, the process went smoothly. We're also glad to see new ideas from the team, like the wine social. We wish them luck and will remember our stay fondly.
