Lighthouse Cove Inn

They advertise this as a 5 star hotel, but to me it’s more like 2 stars. It’s under construction, has no air conditioning or elevators, and there’s no staff on site. Check-in is a mile down the road, where the staff stay at another hotel. They were rude and unhelpful.

The room was very large and looked clean. We arrived after the office had closed, but the gentleman was professional and made getting checked in easy. My only gripe was the bed felt tiny compared with the California King I’m used to at home, which isn’t the hotel’s fault. We’d stay here again.

You have to drive to another motel to check in, then make the same drive again to pick up breakfast. Seriously? I won’t stay here again.

The front desk welcomed me warmly and with a sense of humor, and I’m more impressed by this place than any other I’ve seen around town. It’s comfortable, smells good, and is clearly well cared for and appointed. The room had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, a lovely sink and counter, and a sea mural above the beds. The online pictures don’t really show how nice it is. A block west, there’s a pleasant walk along the bay, with eateries, shops, and art along a broad, welcoming pier. I felt safe walking alone at twilight. I’m looking forward to bringing my wife here.
