Super 8 by Wyndham Bangor

I came to Bangor for work, then had an accident and needed to stay until I recovered. I couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel is clean and well run, and the staff, from housekeeping to the front desk, are top notch, professional, and wonderful. The woman and man at the desk are amazing, and I appreciate them so much. I've been blessed to stay here and wish I could give more stars. I travel all over America for work, and this is one of the best run hotels I've found at a reasonable rate. If you're in town for work or any other reason, I highly recommend it. They provide five-star service for a fair price.

The grab-and-go breakfast had lots of choices, and the staff were friendly. The place was clean, with no strange smells, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower ran out of hot water after a couple of minutes, but for the price, the stay was much better than I expected. A really good budget option.

The exterior doors don't even lock, and the counter employee was incredibly rude and unreasonable. We booked a room for our adult kids. A friend briefly visited them with their dog, even though this is a pet-friendly hotel, and the visitors didn't stay long. We were then charged $250 after the fact for the short time the dog was in the room. I'd give it less than one star if I could. Queen City, across the parking lot and only 50 yards away, is much more hospitable, understanding, and reasonable, and its doors lock. EDIT: Despite their attempt to save face, this is a pet-friendly location. We didn't sign up for that, but the visitor was only there briefly. They're still trying to polish a tarnished event. Stay at Queen City. They're much more accommodating.

The breakfast bag was a plus, and the room was clean and comfortable. I didn't see any bugs, and all the fixtures worked. There was a sound of running water, like a dripping sink or toilet, but with rain and snow outside during the storm, it wasn't a big deal. I was driving from Boston to Presque Isle for work and pulled into Bangor between 2 and 5 a.m. After calling and visiting five other places with higher rates and 11 a.m. checkouts, I was glad to find Super 8, see the trucks outside, and realize this was where delivery people stay. As a delivery person myself, it felt right. Bob offered a great rate and options to extend if needed. Spending five hours there, not behind the wheel, saved the day.
