Anchorage Motel

For a last-minute overnight, this simple little motel worked out really well. We parked the car and walked a few minutes to dinner, and just about everything else in Bar Harbor is walkable too. The woman who checked us in was very pleasant, and Susan was delightful at checkout and helpful with information about getting to Acadia. It’s no three-star hotel, but if you won’t spend much time in the room, it does the job. I’d keep it in mind for a basic overnight stay.

The location is what makes this place a five-star stay for me. You can walk all around Bar Harbor, which is priceless when downtown parking is such a headache. The rooms have been updated, the beds are comfortable, and the shower has great water pressure. Housekeeping came daily, and there’s free coffee in the morning. Highly recommend it.

Nothing fancy, but the room was comfortable for what we needed during our couple of nights here in mid October. We liked being just a couple of blocks from the main street, with easy access to town shopping and Acadia National Park. There’s no restaurant at the motel, but several are an easy walk away. Free guest parking was a real plus since street parking in town costs money. We’d happily stay here again.

Friendly staff and free parking made this a good base for days spent sightseeing around Arcadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Our room had a nicely sized fridge and a microwave, and there was complimentary coffee and tea in the main office. Downtown Bar Harbor is very close. I’d recommend staying here.
