Bass Cottage & Ullikana

Chef Stephen’s complimentary breakfasts were a highlight. Every dish was distinctive, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. His humility made it even more special, and you could feel his creativity and passion in each plate. Monique greeted us each morning with a huge smile and made sure breakfast was just right, while Phoebe’s warm, joyful energy was contagious. Innkeeper Walker was attentive and helpful throughout. Our room (#5) was spacious, with a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, and a lovely water view. The location puts you right in town while still feeling quiet and tucked away, with Acadia National Park moments away. Ullikana Inn made for a memorable stay in Bar Harbor. I highly recommend it for a charming, relaxing, elevated visit.

Breakfast was a real treat, especially the baked oatmeal with berries and compote. Walker, the innkeeper, went out of his way to be charming and hospitable. The Inn had a cozy, historic feel, and the location was perfect near the water, shops, and restaurants.

Our room was very large, and there were snacks and fruit in the common area each day. The full breakfast was included and excellent. The staff were friendly and polite. We were just a block from downtown, yet it was still very quiet.

Breakfast service was good, though apart from check-in, we hardly saw the staff. It felt odd that the building was unlocked all the time when nobody was working there. I understand staff are sometimes at their sister property. The location was nice and within walking distance of everything. Our room was OK, but it lacked small conveniences: a beverage fridge and a bottle or two of water would have been nice. Paper cups instead of glasses are always disappointing to me. The property could use some TLC, but it did the job.
