Sleep Inn & Suites Downtown Houston Near Convention Center

Our trucks were broken into while we were staying here. I'm not sure how much help the hotel gave the police. We were shown some video, but not footage from the closest cameras, and I don't know why that wasn't shared. In what we could see, the people who broke in avoided every camera angle that might identify them or the car. The hotel wasn't very helpful and seemed a little dismissive, as if this happens all the time. I wouldn't recommend staying unless you're okay with a possible break-in and little support.

I had a very disappointing interaction with the front desk at Sleep Inn & Suites near downtown on 1/23/26 around 12:00 PM, while I was still a guest. The worker was rude and condescending, spoke dismissively, and hung up on me several times instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue. When I called back for help or clarification, she refused to assist, even though I was still staying at the hotel. That kind of treatment is unacceptable at any hotel, especially one that claims to offer hospitality. As a paying guest, I found it frustrating and disappointing to be treated that way. Front desk staff should help guests, not belittle them or avoid doing their job. I'd think twice about staying here if basic respect and professional customer service matter to you.

The front desk lady cancelled our reservation before we could even get to our room, then wouldn't let us stay. My mother went in to ask if we could check in a little early, though check-in was still 25 minutes away. That's when the woman told her about a deposit, which hadn't been mentioned anywhere when we booked. She angrily said every hotel requires a credential deposit and we wouldn't find anywhere without one. I've stayed at dozens of hotels this year, and that isn't true. She said she would cancel the reservation because it was going to be a problem. It wasn't a problem, unexpected $100 deposits just suck. I was getting my card ready to pay, and when we walked back in, she refused to let us stay. This was the worst service I've experienced. I'd be fired from my job if I treated a customer that way. I don't even know whether I'm getting a refund, since she just made us leave.

The room was clean and the front desk staff were courteous. But my vehicle was broken into during the night of Sept 30-Oct 1st of this year, parked right beside the lobby door in a well-lit lot with surveillance cameras all over. I reported it to the Houston Police Dept and asked the clerk to provide the video to HPD. I was told only the owner could access it, he wasn't available, and they'd pass on a message. For the next three weeks I called every day and kept hearing that Mr. Patel wasn't available and they'd message him again. I also emailed him at two different addresses without a reply, and contacted Choice Hotels corporate to pass along a message, still with no response. As of now, HPD hasn't received parking lot footage, if any exists, and neither the owner nor a property manager has contacted me about the break-in. The owner clearly has no concern for guest safety, so I'd strongly suggest avoiding this unsafe and dangerous location in Houston.
