Comfort Suites Bush Intercontinental Airport

My flight was cancelled, so I stayed here, but the shuttle service was extremely unreliable. I waited at the airport from 10 pm for an hour and had to call three times. The shuttle wasn’t marked correctly. When I checked in, I asked for a shuttle at 10 am and was told to be in the lobby by 9:40, but it was extremely late again. The rooms were very dated and run down, my shower wouldn’t get warm, and there was a very loud

A cancelled connection with United Airlines turned what could have been a frustrating night into a fantastic one-night mini vacation, and two strangers became friends. It was easy to coordinate pickup with the hotel, and they even gave me walking directions to the airport pickup spot. The shuttle driver was quick and drove safely. Emily greeted me warmly and made check-in simple, then scheduled my morning shuttle back to the airport. The room was clean, with dust-free surfaces and floors clean enough that my white socks stayed white. There were two sitting areas and plenty of light, and it was easy to adjust the heat and air. The bed was soft but not too soft, and I slept great. Breakfast was a traditional hot hotel breakfast, and the staff preparing it were kind. In the morning, Alexis and Christian at the front desk sent me off with warm smiles and kindness. My shuttle driver was friendly and drove safely too. I’d highly recommend this location for its friendly staff, clean and safe environment, and easy access.

The first room was dated inside and smelled of dingy carpet. The shower pressure was embarrassingly weak and the water never warmed up, so I asked to switch rooms. The second room smelled of cannabis and cleaning product, maybe the product was being used to cover the other smell. Its shower was only slightly better for pressure and temperature. I walked to the Mexican restaurant next door and spotted Spark between it and Comfort Suites. I called Spark and booked a night there instead. The shower worked and was clean, and the place looked recently renovated or possibly newly built. It cost only $5-10 more. I’d booked a cheaper, nonrefundable option at Comfort Suites. When I asked for a refund, they offered only 30% because I “didn’t try to let them fix the situation.” I spent less than an hour there. I usually don’t like writing bad reviews, but I wanted to share what happened. Avoid this hotel. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t refund even that 30%, or if the place gets condemned within the next five years.

I feel bad writing this because the girl at the front desk was as kind and helpful as she could be. The owners need to step up, though, and guests should know what to expect. The low reviews about filthy rooms are right. Ours smelled old, musty, and clearly unclean as soon as we entered. The sheets didn’t smell fresh when we sat on the bed, and the odor was overwhelming. Then we heard dripping in the bathroom, and within seconds water was pouring through the ceiling. We left immediately and booked another hotel. It’s concerning that this level of upkeep is considered acceptable for paying guests. The owners need to give the place serious attention.
